With the Holiday weekend winding down and the Z MATA / Soul Fighter Kids making it back to the Bay Area after one of the toughest kids competitions around the world, 2016 IBJJF Kids Pan Ams, they found themselves challenged, experienced, humbled, and famished. Nonetheless, our kids now know they can compete with the best of the best and are part of one of the leading kids programs in the world.
We headed down to Southern California with only eight of our competition kids to the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach. We faced kids from across the nation, Europe and even Brazil. At the end of the long day, our kids walked away with three Pan Am gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal.
With all the hard training and time on the mat we are very happy with everyone’s performance. Even though everyone didn’t reach the podium or accomplish their dream of being a Pan Am Champion, we are very proud. Every single one our kids left it all on the mat, giving it their best effort therefore becoming a better Jiu-Jitsu fighter and most importantly gaining life experiences which will help them become a better person.
All this couldn’t of happened without the support of our coaches, teammates and especially the parents. Thank you for investing in your child and helping them become the best person they can be. Because of you we have one of the best kids programs in the World!
Congratulations to all who stepped onto the mat to challenge themselves. It takes a lot of courage, heart and mental toughness to face another person on the mat who is trying submit you just as you are trying to submit them. Once again, we applaud all who gave it their best. Special congratulations to our Pan Am Champs – Dania Silva, Gabriela Deleon and Louis Benitez.
